    This auction is for only one patch.
    Newark Auxiliary Civil Defense Police, New Jersey - old style patch - 4 1/8" x 4 9/16" embroidered cloth patch.  New, unused condition.
    The Federal Civil Defense Act of 1950 lasted only until 1958.  The Federal CD Agency urged state and local governments to commission Auxiliary Police Officers to be prepared to assist regular police agencies in the event of an enemy assault on the civilian population.  Some Auxiliary CD Police remained in place into the 1960's.
